Calypso Twist joyfully opened its gallery doors in 2006.
Our goals were – and continue to be:
CELEBRATING ART IN LIFE AND HOME
&
COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTION
We know, at Calypso Twist, that our success is not measured in sales, but by the positive impact we make in other people’s lives. A pillar of our mission is to engage our local community in the shared joy of each other’s artistic gifts. Our community contribution program is continually evolving and expanding. To date, Calypso Twist has:
- Contributed a percentage of sales to local charities
- Provided art scholarships to local students
- Hosted art exhibits featuring local high school art students
- Created our Celebrating Art Series featuring events and receptions for local artists
- Offered our gallery as a venue for charity fund raising events
We are honored that the local press has acknowledged our contributions, as shown in the articles highlighted below.

JULY 2006
“Committed to supporting a local organization, Calypso Twist will be donating 10% of grand opening proceeds to Comfort For Kids, the pediatric care program of Hospice and Palliative Care of Contra Costa. Comfort For Kids provides in-home pain control and symptom management for young patients with life-limiting illnesses, and emotional, spiritual, bereavement, and practical support for the entire family. All medically qualified children from Contra Costa, Alameda, San Francisco, and Southern Solano Counties are accepted into the program, regardless of the ability of their families to pay for services.”

APRIL 2008
“Calypso Twist, a retail art gallery in Walnut Creek, is now hosting exhibitions to showcase local student’s art. Calypso Twist features the work of over 200 nationally acclaimed American artists and craftspeople. The gallery currently hosts a series of weekend art events featuring artists, music & refreshments. ‘One of the key objectives in opening the gallery, says owner Miriam Michael, is to highlight and promote new and established local Bay Area artists.’”
